FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Indiana National Guard Gets TRUE-ly Fit
O'Fallon, MO, December 21, 2001
Americans everywhere are supporting their military forces
in these troubled times. TRUE Fitness and Bob Block Fitness
Superstore are doing their share by helping the Indiana National
Guard stay in shape.
Captain Randy Singleton who is stationed at Stout Field in
Indiana is in charge of purchasing treadmills for the Indiana
National Guard. In mid-Fall, he and his staff walked into TRUE
authorized dealer, Bob Block Fitness Superstore looking for
Treadmills. Bob Block staff member Chris Lutz was there to
lend the store's 20- year tradition of one-on-one professional
expertise .
Lutz feels, as a citizen, pleased to be able to contribute
in some way to the U.S. military. "When these guys came in
wearing their fatigues I felt responsible to give them the
best possible products and prices - especially these days - they
deserve it."
Singleton is the supervising contracting officer for the state
of Indiana National Guard and an avid runner. He had purchased
two treadmills from TRUE about a year ago and used them at
Stout Field where he is stationed. Everyone loved the 750 HRC.
Because of the positive experience, Singleton and his crew
ended up buying 28 treadmills that day and had them distributed
to National Guard Armories throughout the state of Indiana.
There are still armories that haven't received the new treadmills
yet but "We'll probably go back and buy TRUE treadmills for
the rest of them," Singleton said.
Because the National Guard's procurement system required it
to buy directly from TRUE, the sale was concluded by Brian
Hovila, TRUE's Midwest Regional Sales Manager. Lutz provided
professional guidance and helped them match the equipment with
their fitness goals. Bob Block Fitness also assembled, installed
and precision-adjusted the equipment to TRUE's specifications.
TRUE Fitness Technology, Inc is one of America's most respected
treadmill manufacturers. It manufactures and sells hand-crafted
home and club treadmills with heart rate control (HRC) and
low-impact running surfaces. It has 250 employees, more than
325 U.S. dealers and 29 offshore distributors covering 34 countries.
Bob Block has partnerships with several equipment manufacturers
but its biggest partner is TRUE Fitness.
"TRUE is a great company to work with. You wouldn't believe
how absolutely above board they are." Lutz said,
Lutz thought the TRUE treadmills were the National Guard's
best buy because they are durable, have wider and longer running
surfaces, and continuous lubricating systems to reduce maintenance.
"TRUE was a natural and obvious fit for these guys." he said, "All
of TRUE's equipment is great, from entry residential to high-end
commercial. When the National Guard is involved, you have to
take into account the high usage the equipment will get."
Bob Block Fitness Superstore is located in Central
Indiana and has the largest selection of fitness equipment
in the Midwest. The owner, Bob Block, has a Ph.D. in physical
education and is a former college coach. Block and his staff
are recognized as skilled authorities on fitness equipment
in Indiana.
"TRUE was in our price range." Singleton said. "We tried the
first two we bought last year and found they were great machines."
They looked at other machines but liked TRUE's belt and deck
system.
"It's easy to run on because it's not hard and has a good
running surface." Singleton said. "When I run, I don't always
remain looking straight ahead. The 23" wide belt helps me to
keep my balance."
Singleton is referring to TRUE's patented "S.O.F.T. Shock-Absorption
System" which allows for a low-impact foot strike, and firm
push off. TRUE treadmills have lateral stability because of
a shock-absorbing system that is softer when the foot strikes
the deck, and gets firmer as the foot pushes off.
Besides the National Guard, Bob Block Fitness has forged relationships
with the fire and police departments, the Pacers National Basketball
Association team and the Women's' Basketball Association. It
serves all manner of government agencies such as the CIA, FBI,
and U.S. Marshals.
"They all have TRUE equipment at their facilities," Lutz said.
"It all starts with who we are," he said. "A lot of the reason
they come to us is because of loyalty and past relationships."
TRUE treadmills are easy to program, so people of any fitness
experience
level can learn to work the treadmill intuitively, quickly.
Singleton says he's proud of having a part in buying the TRUE
treadmills. "Everyone I've talked to who have used the treadmills
are ecstatic," he said. "The people down in the armories - some
don't have gym facilities. In Indiana it gets cold in the winter
and you can't get outside and run."
Singleton has been a runner for 22 years.
"In the military you get tested one to two times a year so
you have to stay in shape." he said. "I run three days a week
if I can. I try to keep in shape military-wise."
TRUE's HRC offers the most specialized workouts available.
The treadmill automatically adjusts speed and/or grade to the
selected target heart rate. Users stay in the desired beats-per-minute-zone,
so they can't over or under exert.
"I like the fact that the treadmill isn't pushing you to go." Singleton
said. "It makes you go at the pace you've programmed in, and
there is a lot of cushioning."
Singleton was happy with the way TRUE Fitness and Bob Block
fitness treated the National Guard and reacted to its needs.
Brian Hovila at TRUE was very easy to work with. He understood
our needs and was accommodating in helping us to meet those
needs. Bob Block Fitness came out and provided follow-up service
after the sale, he said.
